I don’t care about the nonsense with Duck Dynasty, frankly, it has nothing to do with Freedom of Speech.
A&E is a huge supporter of the LGBT community, and in so doing what they are doing, they are not only exercising their rights as a corporation (that, conveniently, many of you free-market capitalists seem to have forgotten about), but also maintaining a stance in the support of viewers that may be offended.
Still, what about people like…Kieth Olbermann, Pat Buchanan, Rick Sanchez, and a whole slew of other media faces that have been subsequently suspended for things that they’ve said, or expressed, either directly, or indirectly through their programming? Many of these people were removed, and found a new home – many of which at FOX News.
This being said, A&E can handle the show any way that they wish to without trampling over free speech. Don’t make it a 1st Amendment issue when it isn’t. A&E is a corporation (also a person thanks to the Supreme Court).
Still, of the many issues to take up arms over, it saddens me that you do so by backing someone such as Phil, when so many other voices that need to be heard go unnoticed.
A&E’s suspension will not really lead anywhere, or have a major impact, just as much as your making at 1st amendment issue wont lead to anywhere productive and worthwhile.
